Lydia

Lydia is co-partner at Friendly Creatures and has worked with and owned animals all her life. She trained her first dogs aged 14 years old and worked with dogs and horses during the summer holidays. Learning to move sheep on and off the moor the old-fashioned way on horseback using border collies was inspiring. Over the years, Lydia has partnered her dogs in Dog Agility, Pets as Therapy, and Assistance dogs.

In a previous life, Lydia (BSc, MSc, PGCE) has been a Nurse Practitioner, a Counsellor and a Senior Lecturer. She decided to follow her dream and work full time with animals in 2010 when she created Friendly Creatures dog training in East London. The company quickly expanded and is now a team of trainers working in different areas in London and also has a big online client base.

Lydia has full insurance, is DBS-checked and has accredited canine First Aid skills. She has undertaken professional training and is a full member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers which supports ethical dog training methods. She follows the Slow Dog Movement philosophy. She specializes in helping animals with anxiety including separation anxiety. Lydia has considerable knowledge of animal behaviour and human behaviour and offers a Mentorship scheme to help people who want to work with animals. She also helps humans who are fearful of dogs to help them understand them and become more confident around them.
